Gita Maria’s stunning enamel shawl pins are used as closures or embellishments on hand-knitted or woven items. Gita has designed shapes ranging from Maple leaves, butterflies, flowers, sheep and fish to simple squares and offset circles. Each shawl pin is carefully enameled with transparent glass over Sterling Silver plate, creating a water color effect as the silver twinkles through the glass. It is evident from the rich enamel colors and the exquisite detail that exceptional hand craftsmanship goes into each one of these small works of art.
To use a Gita Maria shawl pin: (1) Place the shawl pin in the position you want it on the garment or fabric. (2) With your finger, poke a bit of the knitted or woven fabric through the hole in the base…from the back-side of the shawl pin. (3) With your other hand, push the pin straight across and through that bit of fabric poked through the hole, which will secure the pin. (4) Always have the point of the pin aiming downwards.
Gita Maria sells all her shawl pins at retail trade-shows across the country, and a smaller collection is now available online. Due to the time required for hand made items an order may take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to ship.
